2022 Conference Speakers
CHRIS HULL
Chris has been instrumental in the evolution and development of biodynamics in New Zealand since the early ‘80s. He has been Biodynamics New Zealand’s preparation maker for more than 30 years, teaching many students who attended the Certificate in applied Organic and Biodynamics course when it was run at Taruna in Hawkes Bay. The preparations are a quintessential part of biodynamics and he talks from his many years of making preparations, in particular giving information, practicality and insight into the fundamentals of preparation making.
RACHEL POMEROY
Rachel is one of the movers and shakers of the Biodynamic community in New Zealand. Her interest in astronomy developed in conjunction with her practice of biodynamics and use of the biodynamic planting calendar, started about 25 years ago. She began learning Maori star-lore about 8 years ago and found it expanded and brought to life many of the qualities, movements and rhythms she had already observed in the sky. Rachel will be drawing from her extensive knowledge of the preparations to discuss their storage in a way that maintains their life force between the acts of creating and using.
PETER BACCHUS
Peter has had a lifelong interest in biodynamics, with his parents being early adopters of biodynamic methods. He has been a dairy farmer, medicinal herb grower and compost maker. Everywhere he goes he makes compost and adds the preparations. Peter will pass on his extensive knowledge of the biodynamic preparations to empower people to use them based around timing with the constellations and environmental considerations.
FLORIAN ROGER
Florian is originally from Brittany in France. He has an deep interest in Biodynamics and has a profound devotion towards Anthroposophy. He has travelled around the world seeking for a meaningful/purposeful movement and currently resides in Hawkes Bay whereby he is facilitating the local Flourishing Biodynamics Group. Florian will speak about creating community and invigorating local groups on how to make, apply and understand the preparations while connecting everyone.
ALLEN GORTHY
Allen is a biodynamic consultant. Through his consultancy work he teaches compost construction, moon calendar building/implementation, cover cropping, animal husbandry and biodynamic preparation making. His mission is to share knowledge to help others build practices that support healthy soil, water and air through a biodynamic lens. He will discuss making reparations 504 (nettle) and 507 (valerian) without the need for collection of animal parts.
